  1. And he gave a sign the same day, saying: This shall be the sign, that the Lord hath spoken: Behold the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it, shall be poured out.

  2. And when the king had heard the word of the man of God, which he had cried out against the altar in Bethel, he stretched forth his hand from the altar, saying: Lay hold on him. And his hand which he stretched forth against him, withered: and he was not able to draw it back again to him.

  3. The altar also was rent, and the ashes were poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given before in the word of the Lord.

  4. Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying: Master, we would see a sign from thee.

  8. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven. And then shall all tribes of the earth mourn: and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with much power and majesty.

  9. And the Pharisees came forth and began to question with him, asking him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

  10. And sighing deeply in spirit, he saith: Why doth this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, a sign shall not be given to this generation.

  11. Tell us, when shall these things be and what shall be the sign when all these things shall begin to be fulfilled?

  12. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

  13. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him: Rabbi, we know that thou art come a teacher from God; for no man can do these signs which thou dost, unless God be with him.

  14. Jesus therefore said to him: Unless you see signs and wonders, you believe not.
