  1. If thou take of thy neighbour a garment in pledge, thou shalt give it him again before sunset.

  2. When thou shalt demand of thy neighbour any thing that he oweth thee, thou shalt not go into his house to take away a pledge:

  3. But thou shalt stand without, and he shall bring out to thee what he hath.

  4. But if he be poor, the pledge shall not lodge with thee that night,

  5. But thou shalt restore it to him presently before the going down of the sun: that he may sleep in his own raiment and bless thee, and thou mayst have justice before the Lord thy God.

  6. Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless, neither shalt thou take away the widow's raiment for a pledge.

  7. They have driven away the ass of the fatherless, and have taken away the widow's ox for a pledge.

  8. For if thou have not wherewith to restore, what cause is there that he should take the covering from thy bed?

  9. And if a man be just, and do judgment and justice,

  10. And hath not wronged any man: but hath restored the pledge to the debtor, hath taken nothing away by violence: hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment:

  11. That grieveth the needy and the poor, that taketh away by violence, that restoreth not the pledge, and that lifteth up his eyes to idols, that comitteth abomination:

  12. And if that wicked man restore the pledge, and render what he had robbed, and walk in the commandments of life, and do no unjust thing: he shall surely live, and shall not die.

  13. And they sat down upon garments laid to pledge by every altar: and drank the wine of the condemned in the house of their God.
