  1. And answering, he said to them: Go and relate to John what you have heard and seen: the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are made clean, the deaf hear, the dead rise again, to the poor the gospel is preached.

  2. And the multitudes running together, he began to say: This generation is a wicked generation. It asketh a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.

  3. And he said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they believe, if one rise again from the dead.

  5. And immediately he saw and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

  7. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

  8. When therefore he was risen again from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this: and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had said.

  9. Now when he was at Jerusalem, at the pasch, upon the festival day, many believed in his name, seeing his signs which he did.

  10. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him: Rabbi, we know that thou art come a teacher from God; for no man can do these signs which thou dost, unless God be with him.

  11. Jesus therefore said to him: Unless you see signs and wonders, you believe not.

  12. The ruler saith to him: Lord, come down before that my son die.

  13. Jesus saith to him: Go thy way. Thy son liveth. The man believed the word which Jesus said to him and went his way.

  14. And as he was going down, his servants met him: and they brought word, saying, that his son lived.

  15. He asked therefore of them the hour wherein he grew better. And they said to him: Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.

  16. The father therefore knew that it was at the same hour that Jesus said to him: Thy son liveth. And himself believed, and his whole house.

  17. But I have a greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to perfect, the works themselves which I do, give testimony of me, that the Father hath sent me.

  18. And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

  19. Jesus answered them and said: Amen, amen, I say to you, you seek me, not because you have seen miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves and were filled.

  20. But of the people many believed in him and said: When the Christ cometh, shall he do more miracles than this man doth?

  21. Jesus answered: Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

  22. And Jesus hearing it, said to them: This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God: that the Son of God may be glorified by it.

  23. Jesus saith to her: Did not I say to thee that if thou believe, thou shalt see the glory of God?

  24. They took therefore the stone away. And Jesus lifting up his eyes, said: Father, I give thee thanks that thou hast heard me.

  25. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people who stand about have I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
