  1. And in the third year of his reign, he sent of his princes Benhail, and Abdias, and Zacharias, and Nathanael, and Micheas, to teach in the cites of Juda:

  2. And with them the Levites, Semeias, and Nathanias, and Zabadias, and Asael, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonias, and Tobias, and Thobadonias Levites, and with them Elisama, and Joram priests.

  3. And they taught the people in Juda, having with them the book of the law of the Lord: and they went about all the cities of Juda, and instructed the people.

  4. They have given the dead bodies of thy servants to be meat for the fowls of the air: the flesh of thy saints for the beasts of the earth.

  5. They have poured out their blood as water, round about Jerusalem and there was none to bury them.

  6. We are become a reproach to our neighbours: a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

  7. How long, O Lord, wilt thou be angry for ever: shall thy zeal be kindled like a fire?

  8. Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that have not known thee: and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

  9. Because they have devoured Jacob; and have laid waste his place.

  10. Remember not our former iniquities: let thy mercies speedily prevent us, for we are become exceeding poor.

  11. What shall be given to thee, or what shall be added to thee, to a deceitful tongue?

  12. The sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals that lay waste.

  13. Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of Cedar:

  14. My soul hath been long a sojourner.

  15. With them that hated peace I was peaceable: when I spoke to them they fought against me without cause.

  16. I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

  17. ¶ BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

  18. ¶ With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

  19. ¶ Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

  20. ¶ Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.

  21. ¶ With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.

  22. I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.

  23. I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

  24. I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

  25. ¶ GIMEL. Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
