  8. Now when the inhabitants of Jabes Galaad had heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,

  9. And the men of Juda came, and anointed David there, to be king over the house of Juda. And it was told David that the men of Jabes Galaad had buried Saul.

  10. David therefore sent messengers to the men of Jabes Galaad, and said to them: Blessed be you to the Lord, who have shewn this mercy to your master Saul, and have buried him.

  11. And David went, and took the bones of Saul, and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabes Galaad, who had stolen them from the street of Bethsan, where the Philistines had hanged them when they had slain Saul in Gelboe.

  12. And when the men of Jabes Galaad had heard this, to wit, all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
