  1. ADONAI said to Aharon,

  2. "Don't drink any wine or other intoxicating liquor, neither you nor your sons with you, when you enter the tent of meeting, so that you will not die. This is to be a permanent regulation through all your generations,

  3. so that you will distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;

  4. For I am ADONAI your God; therefore, consecrate yourselves and be holy, for I am holy; and do not defile yourselves with any kind of swarming creature that moves along the ground.

  5. For I am ADONAI, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God. Therefore you are to be holy, because I am holy.

  6. This is why the people of Isra'el cannot stand before their enemies. They turn their backs on their enemies, because they have come under a curse. I won't be with you any more unless you destroy the things meant for destruction that you have with you.

  7. So get up, consecrate the people, and say, 'Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for here is what ADONAI the God of Isra'el says: "Isra'el, you have things under the curse of destruction among you; and you will not be able to stand before your enemies until you remove the things that were to have been destroyed from among you."

  8. A psalm of David: ADONAI, who can rest in your tent? Who can live on your holy mountain?

  9. Those who live a blameless life, who behave uprightly, who speak truth from their hearts

  10. and keep their tongues from slander; who never do harm to others or seek to discredit neighbors;

  11. who look with scorn on the vile, but honor those who fear ADONAI; who hold to an oath, no matter the cost;

  12. who refuse usury when they lend money and refuse a bribe to damage the innocent. Those who do these things never will be moved.

  13. Who may go up to the mountain of ADONAI? Who can stand in his holy place?

  14. Those with clean hands and pure hearts, who don't make vanities the purpose of their lives or swear oaths just to deceive.

  15. They will receive a blessing from ADONAI and justice from God, who saves them.

  16. (Alef) How happy are those whose way of life is blameless, who live by the Torah of ADONAI!

  17. How happy are those who observe his instruction, who seek him wholeheartedly!

  18. They do nothing wrong but live by his ways.

  19. Following the way of your judgments, we put our hope in you. The desire of all our soul is to remember you and your name.

  20. My soul desires you at night, my spirit in me seeks you at dawn; for when your judgments are here on earth, the people in the world learn what righteousness is.

  21. Their descendants will be known among the nations, their offspring among the peoples; all who see them will acknowledge that they are the seed ADONAI has blessed.

  22. I am so joyful in ADONAI! My soul rejoices in my God, for he has clothed me in salvation, dressed me with a robe of triumph, like a bridegroom wearing a festive turban, like a bride adorned with her jewels.

  23. For just as the earth brings forth its plants, or a garden makes its plants spring up, so ADONAI, God, will cause victory and glory to spring up before all nations.

  24. When that day comes, this will be written on the bells worn by the horses: "Consecrated to ADONAI"; and the cooking pots in the house of ADONAI will be [as holy] as the sprinkling bowls before the altar.

  25. Yes, every cooking pot in Yerushalayim and Y'hudah will be consecrated to ADONAI-Tzva'ot. Everyone who offers sacrifices will come, take them and use them to stew the meat. When that day comes, there will no longer be merchants in the house of ADONAI-Tzva'ot.
