  1. You were shown these things so that you would know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides Him.

  2. You shall therefore love the LORD your God and always keep His charge, His statutes, His ordinances, and His commandments.

  6. what He did for you in the wilderness until you reached this place;

  7. and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing that belonged to them.

  8. For it is your own eyes that have seen every great work that the LORD has done.

  9. You shall therefore keep every commandment I am giving you today, so that you may have the strength to go in and possess the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess,

  10. These are the words of the covenant that the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant He had made with them at Horeb.

  11. Moses summoned all Israel and proclaimed to them, “You have seen with your own eyes everything the LORD did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials, and to all his land.

  12. You saw with your own eyes the great trials, and those miraculous signs and wonders.

  13. Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a mind to understand, eyes to see, or ears to hear.

  14. For forty years I led you in the wilderness, yet your clothes and sandals did not wear out.

  15. You ate no bread and drank no wine or strong drink, so that you might know that I am the LORD your God.

  16. When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out against us in battle, but we defeated them.

  17. We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

  18. So keep and follow the words of this covenant, that you may prosper in all you do.

  19. and said to them, “I know that the LORD has given you this land and that the fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who dwell in the land are melting in fear of you.

  20. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites across the Jordan, whom you devoted to destruction.

  21. When we heard this, our hearts melted and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in the heavens above and on the earth below.

  22. He continued, “This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that He will surely drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites.

  23. Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth will go ahead of you into the Jordan.

  24. For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, just as He did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over.

  25. He did this so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, and so that you may always fear the LORD your God.”
