  1. “If someone sins and acts unfaithfully against the LORD by deceiving his neighbor in regard to a deposit or security entrusted to him or stolen, or if he extorts his neighbor

  2. or finds lost property and lies about it and swears falsely, or if he commits any such sin that a man might commit—

  3. once he has sinned and becomes guilty, he must return what he has stolen or taken by extortion, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost property he found,

  4. or anything else about which he has sworn falsely. He must make restitution in full, add a fifth of the value, and pay it to the owner on the day he acknowledges his guilt.

  5. Then he must bring to the priest his guilt offering to the LORD: an unblemished ram of proper value from the flock.

  6. In this way the priest will make atonement for him before the LORD, and he will be forgiven for anything he may have done to incur guilt.”

  7. You must not steal. You must not lie or deceive one another.

  8. You must not swear falsely by My name and so profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.

  9. If I have walked in falsehood or my foot has rushed to deceit,

  10. let God weigh me with honest scales, that He may know my integrity.

  11. They lie to one another; they speak with flattering lips and a double heart.

  12. May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue.

  13. You unleash your mouth for evil and unharness your tongue for deceit.

  14. You sit and malign your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.

  15. Your tongue devises destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit.

  16. You love evil more than good, falsehood more than speaking truth. Selah

  17. You love every word that devours, O deceitful tongue.

  18. Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent; He will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

  19. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips and a deceitful tongue.

  20. What will He do to you, and what will be added to you, O deceitful tongue?

  21. Sharp arrows will come from the warrior, with burning coals of the broom tree!

  22. to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perversity,

  23. from those who leave the straight paths to walk in the ways of darkness,

  24. from those who enjoy doing evil and rejoice in the twistedness of evil,

  25. whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious.
