  1. For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and from the one end of the sky to the other, whether there has been anything as this great thing is, or has been heard like it?

  2. Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?

  3. Or has God tried to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, by war, by a mighty hand, by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

  4. It was shown to you so that you might know that the LORD is God. There is no one else besides him.

  5. Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you. On earth he made you to see his great fire; and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire.

  6. Because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt;

  7. to drive out nations from before you greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as at this day.

  8. Know therefore this day, and lay it to your heart, that the LORD himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath. There is no one else.

  9. You shall keep his statutes, and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD your God gives you, forever.

  10. This day the LORD your God commands you to do these statutes and ordinances. You shall therefore keep and do them with all your heart and with all your soul.

  11. Is this the way you repay the LORD, foolish and unwise people? Isn’t he your father who has bought you? He has made you and established you.

  12. Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider how great things he has done for you.

  13. Remember his marvelous works that he has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,

  14. What will I give to the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

  15. I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the LORD’s name.

  16. I will pay my vows to the LORD, yes, in the presence of all his people.

  17. I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call on the LORD’s name.

  18. Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

  19. He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again.
