  1. It was that the worde of Iesus might be fulfilled which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

  2. So Pilate entred into the common hall againe, and called Iesus, and sayde vnto him, Art thou the king of the Iewes?

  3. Iesus answered him, Saiest thou that of thy selfe, or did other tell it thee of me?

  4. Pilate answered, Am I a Iewe? Thine owne nation, and the hie Priestes haue deliuered thee vnto me. What hast thou done?

  5. Iesus answered, My kingdome is not of this worlde: if my kingdome were of this worlde, my seruants would surely fight, that I should not be deliuered to the Iewes: but nowe is my kingdome not from hence.

  6. Pilate then said vnto him, Art thou a King then? Iesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a King: for this cause am I borne, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should beare witnes vnto the trueth: euery one that is of the trueth, heareth my voyce.

  7. Pilate said vnto him, What is trueth? And when he had saide that, hee went out againe vnto the Iewes, and said vnto them, I finde in him no cause at all.

  8. But you haue a custome, that I shoulde deliuer you one loose at the Passeouer: will yee then that I loose vnto you the King of ye Iewes?

  9. Then cried they all againe, saying, Not him, but Barabbas: nowe this Barabbas was a murtherer.

  10. Then the chiefe Priest rose vp, and all they that were with him (which was the sect of the Sadduces) and were full of indignation,

  11. And laide hands on the Apostles, and put them in the common prison.

  12. But the Angel of the Lord, by night opened the prison doores, and brought them forth, and sayd,

  13. Go your way, and stand in the Temple, and speake to the people, all the wordes of this life.

  14. So when they heard it, they entred into the Temple early in the morning, and taught. And the chiefe Priest came, and they that were with him, and called the Councill together, and all the Elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison, to cause them to be brought.

  15. But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and tolde it,

  16. Saying, Certainely we founde the prison shut as sure as was possible, and the keepers standing without, before the doores: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

  17. Then when the chiefe Priest, and the captaine of the Temple, and the hie Priestes heard these things, they doubted of them, whereunto this would growe.

  18. Then came one and shewed them, saying, Beholde, the men that ye put in prison, are standing in the Temple, and teach the people.

  19. Then went the captaine with the officers, and brought them without violence (for they feared the people, lest they should haue bene stoned)

  20. And when they had brought them, they set them before the Councill, and the chiefe Priest asked them,

  21. Saying, Did not we straightly commaund you, that ye should not teach in this Name? and behold, ye haue filled Hierusale with your doctrine, and ye would bring this mans blood vpon vs.

  22. Then Peter and the Apostles answered, and sayd, We ought rather to obey God then men.

  23. The God of our fathers hath raised vp Iesus, whom ye slewe, and hanged on a tree.

  24. Him hath God lift vp with his right hand, to be a Prince and a Sauiour, to giue repentance to Israel, and forgiuenes of sinnes.

  25. And we are his witnesses concerning these things which we say: yea, and the holy Ghost, whome God hath giuen to them that obey him.
