  1. The things which thy eyes have seen, utter not hastily in a quarrel: lest afterward thou mayst not be able to make amends, when thou hast dishonoured thy friend.

  2. Treat thy cause with thy friend, and discover not the secret to a stranger:

  3. Lest he insult over thee, when he hath heard it, and cease not to upbraid thee. Grace and friendship deliver a man: keep these for thyself, lest thou fall under reproach.

  4. Be at agreement with thy adversary betimes, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest perhaps the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

  5. Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing.

  6. Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to be judged before the unjust: and not before the saints?

  7. Know you not that the saints shall judge this world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

  8. Know you not that we shall judge angels? How much more things of this world?

  9. If therefore you have judgments of things pertaining to this world, set them to judge who are the most despised in the church.

  10. I speak to your shame. Is it so that there is not among you any one wise man that is able to judge between his brethren?

  11. But brother goeth to law with brother: and that before unbelievers.

  12. Already indeed there is plainly a fault among you, that you have law suits one with another. Why do you not rather take wrong? Why do you not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

  13. But you do wrong and defraud: and that to your brethren.
