  1. You must not steal. You must not lie or deceive one another.

  2. You must not swear falsely by My name and so profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.

  3. If a false witness testifies against someone, accusing him of a crime,

  4. both parties to the dispute must stand in the presence of the LORD, before the priests and judges who are in office at that time.

  5. The judges shall investigate thoroughly, and if the witness is proven to be a liar who has falsely accused his brother,

  6. you must do to him as he intended to do to his brother. So you must purge the evil from among you.

  7. Then the rest of the people will hear and be afraid, and they will never again do anything so evil among you.

  8. There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to Him:

  9. haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

  10. a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that run swiftly to evil,

  11. a false witness who gives false testimony, and one who stirs up discord among brothers.

  12. Then he told me, “This is the curse that is going out over the face of all the land, for according to one side of the scroll, every thief will be removed; and according to the other side, every perjurer will be removed.

  13. I will send it out, declares the LORD of Hosts, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of him who swears falsely by My name. It will remain inside his house and destroy it, down to its timbers and stones.”

  14. We realize that law is not enacted for the righteous, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for killers of father or mother, for murderers,

  15. for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave traders and liars and perjurers, and for anyone else who is averse to sound teaching
