  1. If any one sin, and commit a trespass against Jehovah, and deal falsely with his neighbor in a matter of deposit, or of bargain, or of robbery, or have oppressed his neighbor,

  2. or have found that which was lost, and deal falsely therein, and swear to a lie; in any of all these things that a man doeth, sinning therein;

  3. And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, and profane the name of thy God: I am Jehovah.

  4. When a man voweth a vow unto Jehovah, or sweareth an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

  14. He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; Who hath not lifted up his soul unto falsehood, And hath not sworn deceitfully.

  15. He shall receive a blessing from Jehovah, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

  16. And though they say, As Jehovah liveth; surely they swear falsely.

  17. Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods that ye have not known,

  18. and come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered; that ye may do all these abominations?

  19. For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also deal with thee as thou hast done, who hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.

  20. And he took of the seed royal, and made a covenant with him; he also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land;

  21. that the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.

  22. But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape?

  23. As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

  24. Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts, to cut off many persons.

  25. For he hath despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet hath done all these things; he shall not escape.
