  1. And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

  2. ¶ And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:

  3. For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

  4. It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

  5. And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:

  6. And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

  7. And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

  8. ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

  9. But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,

  10. And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

  11. But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

  12. They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

  13. They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

  14. They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

  15. Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.

  16. And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

  17. ¶ And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;

  18. Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

  19. Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.

  20. The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

  21. They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.

  22. But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.

  23. And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the LORD; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.

  24. ¶ And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.

  25. So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.
