And Jesus said to them: Can the children of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast.

And they said to him: Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and the disciples of the Pharisees in like manner; but thine eat and drink?

To whom he said: Can you make the children of the bridegroom fast whilst the bridegroom is with them?

But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them: then shall they fast in those days.

And when it began to be light, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying: This day is the fourteenth day that you have waited and continued fasting, taking nothing.

Wherefore, I pray you to take some meat for your health's sake: for there shall not an hair of the head of any of you perish.
