Trusting God's Perfect and Appointed Timing

Have you ever felt like you are running out of time? Maybe you have been praying for a breakthrough, a change in your family, or a new beginning, but the years are just slipping by. It is easy to feel like God has forgotten His promise or that you have finally missed your window of opportunity. When we look at our circumstances, we often see a closed door, but God sees a scheduled appointment.

In Genesis 21:2, we see the beautiful resolution to a decades-long wait: "For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.." Sarah was ninety years old when this happened! By every human standard, the dream of having a son was dead and buried. But God specializes in bringing life out of barren places. The Hebrew word for "conceived" is hārāh, which emphasizes a physical reality. This was not just a nice idea or a metaphor; it was a tangible, miraculous work of God in a situation that was naturally impossible.

The most encouraging part of this verse is the phrase "at the set time." In Hebrew, this is môwʿēd, referring to a fixed appointment or a specific, pre-ordained season. It reminds us that God does not just fulfill His promises eventually; He fulfills them precisely when He intended to from the beginning. Just as Galatians 4:4 tells us that Jesus arrived at the "fullness of time," your life is not governed by luck or biological clocks, but by the sovereign calendar of a Father who loves you.

Application

Today, take that one "impossible" situation you have been carrying and lay it back at the feet of Jesus. Instead of checking your own watch, choose to trust His calendar. Write down one promise from Scripture that applies to your situation and thank God that He has already scheduled the "set time" for His will to be accomplished in your life.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that Your timing is perfect even when I do not understand the delay. Help me to trust Your heart while I wait for Your hand to move, knowing that You are always faithful to Your Word. Amen.
