പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടു: നീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

പീലാത്തൊസ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരോടും പുരുഷാരത്തോടും: ഞാൻ ഈ മനുഷ്യനിൽ കുറ്റം ഒന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
