And the Lord said to Solomon: Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life nor riches, nor the lives of thy enemies, but hast asked for thyself wisdom to discern judgment;
Behold I have done for thee according to thy words, and have given thee a wise and understanding heart, in so much that there hath been no one like thee before thee, nor shall arise after thee.
Yea, and the things also which thou didst not ask, I have given thee; to wit, riches and glory: so that no one hath been like thee among the kings in all days heretofore.
And if thou wilt walk in my ways, and keep my precepts and my commandments, as thy father walked, I will lengthen thy days.
Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not.
They repaid me evil for good: to the depriving me of my soul.
But as for me, when they were troublesome to me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom.
My son, forget not my law, and let thy heart keep my commandments.
For they shall add to thee length of days, and years of life, and peace.

And she was a widow until fourscore and four years: who departed not from the temple, by fastings and prayers serving night and day.
For he that will love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile.
Let him decline from evil and do good: Let him seek after peace and pursue it:
