David
Verses Mentioning David
For David saith concerning him: I foresaw the Lord before my face: because he is at my right hand, that I may not be moved.
Ye men, brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David: that he died and was buried; and his sepulchre is with us to this present say.
For David ascended not into heaven; but he himself said: The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou on my right hand,
Who, by the Holy Ghost, by the mouth of our father David, thy servant, hast said: Why did the Gentiles rage: and the people meditate vain things?
Which also our fathers receiving, brought in with Jesus, into the possession of the Gentiles: whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David,
And when he had removed him, he raised them up David to be king: to whom giving testimony, he said: I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart, who shall do all my wills.
And to shew that he raised him up from the dead, not to return now any more to corruption, he said thus: I will give you the holy things of David, faithful.
For David, when he had served in his generation, according to the will of God, slept: and was laid unto his fathers and saw corruption.
After these things I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down: and the ruins thereof I will rebuild. And I will set it up:
Concerning his Son, who was made to him of the seed of David, according to the flesh,
As David also termeth the blessedness of a man to whom God reputeth justice without works:
And David saith: Let their table be made a snare and a trap and a stumbling block and a recompense unto them.
Be mindful that the Lord Jesus Christ is risen again from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel:
Again he limiteth a certain day, saying in David; To day, after so long a time as it is above said: To day if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
And what shall I yet say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, Barac, Samson, Jephthe, David, Samuel, and the prophets:
And to the angel of the church of Philadelphia write: These things saith the Holy One and the true one, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth and no man shutteth, shutteth and no man openeth:
And one of the ancients said to me: Weep not: behold the lion of the tribe of Juda, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book and to loose the seven seals thereof.
I, Jesus, have sent my angel, to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and stock of David, the bright and morning star.
