  1. Thou shalt not take up a false report: put not thy hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

  11. Thou shalt not wrest justice: thou shalt not respect persons; neither shalt thou take a bribe; for a bribe doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

  12. That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

  13. If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, and the judges judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

  14. And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number.

  15. Forty stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

  16. Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the grain.

  17. Give the king thy judgments, O God, And thy righteousness unto the king’s son.

  21. Rescue the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

  22. And moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.

  23. I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

  24. And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness standeth afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and uprightness cannot enter.

  25. Yea, truth is lacking; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey. And Jehovah saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.
