Study Notes for Psalms 134
Verse 1
This final Song of Ascents is a direct call to the temple staff (likely Levites or priests) maintaining the nightly watch. It emphasizes their duty to offer continuous praise even during hours of darkness and rest.
Verse 3
This verse serves as the priestly response, reciprocating the blessing offered by the servants (vv. 1-2). Invoking God as 'Maker of heaven and earth' grounds the blessing in His ultimate sovereignty and creative power. Zion is the source from which God’s authoritative blessing flows.
