Healing in the Middle of the Walk

Have you ever felt trapped in a waiting room with God? You've petitioned for help, yet your circumstances remain unchanged. It is wearying to perform your part while the miracle remains unseen. In the Bible, ten men with a devastating skin disease faced this exact tension, knowing that according to the laws in Leviticus 13:45-46, their condition kept them completely isolated from their families and their home.

When these men met Jesus, they received no immediate touch or flash of light. Instead, they received a command of obedience. In Luke 17:14, the Bible says, "And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.." Jesus directed them toward the temple to see the priests—the legal requirement for restoration—while they were still visibly afflicted. It was a test of whether they would trust His word more than their own sight.

The most profound element of this narrative is the timing. The text says it "came to pass"—from the Greek word gínomai—implying the event unfolded during their journey. They were not healed while standing still; they were healed as they went. The Bible tells us they were katharízō, meaning they were made completely clean and restored. Just as James 2:17 reminds us that faith is lived out through actions, these men walked into their miracle one step at a time.

Application

Today, consider a step of obedience God has already placed on your heart. Is there a person you must forgive, a difficult conversation you've avoided, or a task you've delayed until you feel ready? Do not wait for a sign to appear before you move. Take that one step of faith today, trusting that God often releases His power while we are in motion.

Prayer

Lord, give me the courage to move even when I cannot see the finish line. Help me to trust Your instructions more than my current circumstances. I choose to walk in faith today, knowing You are with me in every step. Amen.
