The Unshakable Kingdom in a Shifting World

Have you ever looked at the news or your own circumstances and felt like everything was spinning out of control? It is easy to feel overwhelmed when the world feels unstable. But Psalms 46:1 reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We don't have to live in fear because of who is ultimately in charge.

In Psalms 96:10, we are given a powerful command: "¶ Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.." This verse is a wake-up call for us to look past the chaos and see the King on His throne. The Hebrew word for "reigneth" is mālak, which describes an active, present, and continuous exercise of royal power. God isn't a distant observer; He is actively governing His creation right now. Because He is the one holding the scepter, the world is "established" and cannot be moved by the whims of man.

This truth provides an incredible anchor for our souls. When we see injustice or feel like the ground is shifting, we can remember that God will judge the people righteously. This isn't just a future hope; it is a present reality. As Matthew 28:18 tells us, Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and on earth. He is the cosmic glue that holds all things together, ensuring that His righteous purposes will always have the final word.

Today, when you feel anxious about world events or personal hurdles, stop and declare out loud: 'The Lord reigns.' Share this hope with one person in your life who is struggling with worry, reminding them that our God is an unshakable King who handles all things with perfect justice.

Lord, thank You that You are the sovereign King over all the earth. When my heart is overwhelmed, help me to rest in Your authority and trust Your righteous judgment. Use me to tell others that You are in control and that Your kingdom cannot be moved. Amen.
